Joseph graduated from the Singapore University of Social Sciences in 2021 with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2022.

Joseph’s practice covers commercial litigation as well as private client matters. He has acted for a wide range of clients for matters in relation to commercial disputes, personal disputes, employment disputes and matrimonial matters.

Quite apart from his disputes practice, Joseph is also a SIMI-Certified Mediation Advocate and a SIMI Accredited Mediator.

Joseph also advises clients on non-contentious matters such as review and amendments to commercial contracts and advisory work for employment matters.

Before he was called to the Bar, Joseph was a paralegal for nine years. His prior experience has been invaluable in his current role as an advocate and solicitor.

Some of the matters which Joseph has been involved in include:

  • Acted for an appellant in an appeal before the Court of Appeal in relation to a matter involving a claim sum of approximately $13 million for, inter alia, misrepresentation arising from an expert report.
  • Acted for a shareholder in an application for derivative action under section 216A of the Companies Act 1967 in relation to a company whose reported assets totalled over $30 million. The matter was settled privately.
  • Acted for a company in a successful application for summary judgment for in excess of $2 million.
  • Acted for a successful appellant before the High Court Appellate Division involving the division of matrimonial assets over $4 million (CVC v CVB [2023] SGHC(A) 28). In that matter, the Appellate Division considered and clarified the legal position regarding the repayment of CPF monies utilised towards purchasing matrimonial properties when those assets are to be divided as part of separation proceedings.
  • Acted as lead counsel for a private client in a successful Originating Application before the General Division of the High Court involving a declaration of trust regarding a joint property valued at $1 million.
  • Acted for an Early Childhood Development Centre licence-holder in respect of alleged regulatory breaches.
  • Advised various employers in respect of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Successfully obtained favourable settlements for various private clients in matrimonial matters. One such matter involved matrimonial assets worth over $10 million.
  • Assisted in a claim for over US$380,000 involving breach of contract (Mitfam International Ltd v Motley Resources Pte Ltd [2014] 1 SLR 1253).
  • Assisted in an appeal against the conviction of four out of six charges involving outrage of modesty (Public Prosecutor v Mohd Taufik bin Abu Bakar and another appeal [2019] SGHC 90).
  • Assisted in two capital cases where the accused persons escaped the death penalty (Public Prosecutor v Sinnappan a/l Nadarajah [2017] SGHC 25 and Public Prosecutor v Muhammad Farid bin Sudi and others [2017] SGHC 228).
